Product Description

This pin honors Hindoo, who won the 1881 Kentucky Derby by four lengths with jockey Jim McLaughlin up after an almost-upset by Lex Ex. Hindoo was bred at the Elmendorf Farm by Daniel Swigert, owner of 1877 Derby Winner Baden-Baden. He was later sold to the Dwyer Brothers’ Stable and trained by Ed D. Brown and James G. Rowe, Sr. Over his career, Hindoo won 30 of his 35 starts, and was later inducted into the U.S. Racing Hall of Fame.
