Product Description

This pin honors Donerail, winner of the 1913 Kentucky Derby with jockey Roscoe Goose up. Donerail’s Derby race was special for several reasons beyond just the initial honor of coming in first: first, Donerail, who took the lead away from Ten Point at the second turn, set the record for making the longest shot in Derby history. Second, Donerail broke 1889 Derby Winner Spokane’s record running of the Derby by running the mile and a quarter race at an astonishing 2:04.45. Donerail was bred, owned and trained by Thomas P. Haynes.
