Product Description
This pin honors Twenty Grand, winner of the 1931 Kentucky Derby with jockey Charles Kurtsinger up. Twenty Grand and Kurtsinger swept past the other horses on the outside halfway through the race to make a spectacular win over Sweep All. As a stud, Twenty Grand was unsuccessful due to sterility and was retired permanently. He was bred and owned by Helen Hay Whitney at Greentree Stables and trained by James G. Rowe Jr. Twenty Grand is listed as #52 on Blood-Horse Magazine’s Top 100 Racehorses of the 20th Century and was inducted into the U.S. Racing Hall of Fame in 1957.
