This pin honors Leonatus, who won the 1883 Kentucky Derby over Drake Carter by three lengths, bringing jockey William Billy Donahue and owners George Martin and Jack Chinn $3,760. While in the Winners Circle on the track at Churchill Downs, Leonatus famously began to munch on his garland of roses.
