This pin honors Manuel, who won the 1899 Kentucky Derby with jockey and trainer Robert Walden up. The race is considered particularly boring, Plaudit having taken an early and easy lead, winning by two lengths. Manuel was both bred and owned by George James Long at Bashford Manor Stable in Louisville, Kentucky.
