1951 Count Turf Tac Pin
This pin honors Count Turf, winner of the 1951 Kentucky Derby with U.S. Racing Hall of Fame jockey Conn McCreary up. Despite running against two highly-favored horses, Battle Morn and Counterpoint, Count Turf beat the odds to come in first at the finish. He came from a great thoroughbred dynasty: his grandsire, 1928 Derby winner Reigh Count, had produced his sire, 1943 Triple Crown winner Count Fleet. He was bred by Dr. and Mrs. Frank Porter-Miller of Runnymeade Farm in Paris, Kentucky, owned by Jack Joseph Amiel and trained by Sol RutchickA Kentucky Derby Museum Exclusive. Pin measures 0.75 X 1".
