1956 Needles Tac Pin
This pin honors Needles, winner of the 1956 Kentucky Derby after wearing down Fabius with jockey David Erb up. Needles would go on to win the Belmont as well, although he fell short in the Preakness. He was bred in Ocala, Florida by William E. Leach—by 1949 Derby winner Ponder--and then sold to Jack Dudley and Bonnie Heath at D&H Stables. His trainer was Hugh Fontaine. In 2000, Needles was inducted into the U. S. Racing Hall of Fame for his excellent career.
A Kentucky Derby Museum Exclusive.
Pin measures 0.75 X 1”.
