1961 Carry Back Tac Pin
This pin honors Carry Back, winner of the 1961 Kentucky Derby despite his characteristically slow start with jockey John Sellers up. He would go on to win the Preakness but, despite his high betting favor in the Belmont, couldn’t pull it off. Apart from the Triple Crown races, Carry Back had an excellent record, earning him a #83 ranking in The Blood-Horse magazine’s Top 100 Racehorses of the 20th Century and a 1975 induction into the U.S. Racing Hall of Fame. He was bred and owned in Ohio by Mr. and Mrs. Jack A. Price; Carry back was also trained by one of his owners, Jack Price.
A Kentucky Derby Museum Exclusive.
Pin measures 0.75 X 1”.
