1966 Kauai King Tac Pin
This pin honors Kauai King, winner of the 1966 Kentucky Derby with jockey Don Brumfield up. Kauai King sped to capture and hold Stupendous and Advocator at bay to finish first in the Derby. He went on to win the Preakness, but fell short to his rivals in the Belmont. Kauai King was bred at Pine Brook Farm in Massachusetts, owned by the Ford Stable and trained by Henry Forrest. Although, in retirement, he proved unsuccessful as a sire of American thoroughbreds, he was sought-after in England and Japan.
A Kentucky Derby Museum Exclusive.
Pin measures 0.75 X 1”.
