1993 Sea Hero Tac Pin
This pin honors Sea Hero, winner of the 1993 Kentucky Derby with jockey Jerry Bailey up. Sea Hero rallied in the backstretch after a slower start to catch the early leaders and win over Prairie Bayou. He would retire to stud in Kentucky; then he would retire to Turkey. Sea Hero was bred and owned by Paul Mellon (of Mellon banking family fame) at Rokeby Stables in Upperville, Virginia and trained by MacKenzie Miller. He is currently the oldest living Derby Winner, a record previously held by Strike the Gold until his death in 2011.
