1999 Charismatic Tac Pin
This pin honors Charismatic, winner of the 1999 Kentucky Derby with jockey Chris Antley up. Charismatic drove to the finish to win over Menifee; his rivalry with Menifee was reinforced in the Preakness when Charismatic won by 1 ½ lengths. Unfortunately for Charismatic, Menifee won the Belmont after Charismatic injured his leg. That injury would end Charismatic’s career as a racehorse. As some consolation, in 1999 he was voted Horse of the Year. Charismatic was bred by Oscar Penn at Parrish Hills Farm, owned by 1997 Derby Winner owners Bob and Beverly Lewis and trained by U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee D. Wayne Lukas.
A Kentucky Derby Museum Exclusive.
Pin measures 0.75 X 1”.
