2004 Smarty Jones Tac Pin
This pin honors Smarty Jones, who won the 2004 Kentucky Derby with jockey Stewart Elliot up. Although bumped at the beginning of the race, Smarty Jones managed to close the gaps to win over Lion Heart. After his Derby win, fans were very excited: he had a completely undefeated record going into the last Triple Crown races. Excitement was only heightened when he won the Preakness by an astonishing 11.5 lengths. Unfortunately he lost the Belmont. He retired to many different farms, and is now stationed at a stud farm in Uruguay. He was bred by Someday Farm in Pennsylvania, owned by Roy and Patricia Chapman and trained by John Servis.
A Kentucky Derby Museum Exclusive.
Pin measures 0.75 X 1”.
